« The more I master the technique, the more I find the technique secondary, the material becomes the embodiment of my ideas »
Born in 1965, a hundred kilometers from the old imperial porcelain factories of Jingdezhen, and after studying at the Beijing Fine Arts School, Bai Ming is today a recognized artist whose activity as a visual artist and teacher contributes to renewing and revitalizing contemporary Chinese ceramic creation. He mixes ancestral technical and typological traditions with the most modern plastic expressions. In the pictorial field, he uses both oil paint and ink, in an eclectic style that alternates geometric compositions and gestural practices. Thanks to his great technical mastery and his perfect knowledge of fire arts, he excels in enamel painting.
